this super limited run of 18 7' Lathe Cut records with 4 songs ("Inertia", "Wingspan" on side a, and "Listening" + "Copernicus" on side b) is a one time exclusive offer from DTN. Please NOTE: Lathe Cut Records are made one-at-a-time, in real time, by a real person using an experimental process and 70 year old technology. It is not a pressed record and may have slightly more surface noise or an occasional light distortion in some frequencies, and may sound somewhat different than the original master. The volume will also be a little lower than a modern “post-loudness-war” record, so pump up the volume. It won’t be audiophile, but it ought to be listenable and sound pretty good considering the circumstances of its’ birth. It might also require tonearm and anti-skate adjustment in order to track correctly due to the hard plastic having slightly shallower grooves than a traditional record.

Sunmundi is a rare breed. Young in age and in his time creating yet the work unravels as though he is a weathered sage who has been wandering the earth absorbing life, pain, and loss, and seeing the soul and humanity in a world spinning out of control. He is cut from the cloth of folks like Ka, Navy Blue, Mike Ladd, Saul Williams, billy woods, Charles Bukowski, Prodigy and other legendary poets. Āthmaan plays his part well in laying down the often ambient, yet always engulfing sonic canvas for Sunmundi to paint on. The pairing is something of magic.

"Midnight Oil" is not meant to be skipped around. Rather, it is a living & breathing piece of art that you sit in and with, and feel. You turn off the world around you and experience each movement, 1-10, as paintings, sculptures, and mixed medium art installations meant to be consumed slowly.

An album that was challenging at first but always thought provoking, painting pictures with rhymes over such harsh & strong instrumentals all throughout. Mystifying, gorgeous and intense melancholy all at once conveyed beautifully. I was typing a longer review before I realized it was too long, but this album from start to finish is a beautiful painting in each track. I'd list almost every track as my favorite if possible, so much good to say about the raps, beats, guest features. Great music. darksunq
